THE LORD’S SUPPER

This Sabbath morning, July 31, I invite you to celebrate the Lord’s death and His resurrection. Please, do not take it as a routine ceremony. The Lord died on the cross for my sins and your sins. Let us all humble our hearts and bring our lives to the Lord’s altar. I pray this this Sabbath we truly consecrate ourselves to the Lord. Let His Spirit renew us prepare us for His Kingdom.

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.” Matthew 5:23-24

“And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of me. Likewise, also, the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” “Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” {1SP 202.2}

Here our Saviour instituted the Lord’s supper, to be often celebrated, to keep fresh in the memory of his followers the solemn scenes of his betrayal and crucifixion for the sins of the world. He would have his followers realize their continual dependence upon his blood for salvation. The broken bread was a symbol of Christ’s broken body, given for the salvation of the world. The wine was a symbol of his blood, shed for the cleansing of the sins of all those who should come unto him for pardon, and receive him as their Saviour. {1SP 203.1}

Men’s Ministry Launched their program

On Sunday morning Rodney was at the church to pray and to study the Word of God with a group of men who joined him as a part of the Lakeview Men’s Ministry. Rodney, if there were just a few, please, be assured they came because they needed it the most. I pray that this important ministry continue to bring our men closer to one another and mainly to the Lord. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, please, talk to Rodney about the schedule of their meetings.

Lakeview Food Pantry

This past Sunday Lakeview Community Services did not have a day off. The Food Pantry area was busy as a happy beehive. Monica and Stanley with a team of volunteers were sorting cans and boxes to feed dozens of families in our community. I should say that their work is not limited to just one day a week. On Friday Sieg brought a van full of fresh groceries and Monica and Stanley worked for hours in the scorching heat to have everything ready for the weekend. I was so blessed to meet a father and his son who are not members of our church, but they were helping our team all day long. They explained to me that this was their way of saying THANK YOU to our church for the food program that benefits their families also. Praise God for the dedicated team of the Community Services volunteers.

Ordination of Deaconesses.

This was something I have never done before, but I after the prayer of blessing I felt that the Spirit was there to set apart our ladies for this important ministry of service. I suppose that’s what Paul had in mind when he wrote that in Christ “there is no male or female”. We all need His blessing and guidance in our work for the salvation of the souls for His Kingdom.

Sermon Notes for July 23

A study once disclosed that if both Mom and Dad attend church regularly, 72 percent of their children remain faithful in attendance. If only Dad attends regularly, 55 percent remain faithful. If only Mom attends regularly, 15 percent remain faithful. If neither attend regularly, only 6 percent remain faithful.

We have this Commandment from God. It doesn’t say, “Honor you mother and father if they have been good to you.” It says honor your mother and father, period. It may be that you find it hard to honor your parents as persons but at least you need to learn to honor the position of motherhood or fatherhood. We may not like the President of the U.S. but we should honor and respect the office of the president.

The Bible teaches us that God has placed a high value on the institution of the home, and that much of what we become in life is influenced by the early years and how we respond to our parent’s authority. This commandment speaks to both children and parents and to society as a whole.
